“This was the absolutely best experience at an Airbnb I've ever had. This is a perfect adventure for anyone who wants a quiet, adventurous, and authentic Alaska experience, and Douglas is amazing as a host and goes above and beyond the call of duty!”

Doug and Marge are great hosts! Communication was clear and timely so when we landed at Port Alsworth we knew exactly where to go for pickup. Which is great considering there’s no phone service. The boat ride across the lake was an extra adventure that we thoroughly enjoyed! Doug was super informative and seemed to love sharing his slice of heaven with us. We also bought the meal plan (pricey but being so remote, it was a necessary expense. We didn’t have the ability to carry food on the plane with us with weight restrictions). Marge’s food was delicious every meal and we enjoyed the conversations with our hosts. It was an adjustment to be on a schedule for meals, but the homemade meals never disappointed
We stayed in the dry cabin, and it was roomy enough for two adults and a child. The outhouse was right outside, and we had plenty of access to drinking water both inside and outside the cabin. I also loved using the sauna and hot tub with views of the lake!

“I could write a book about my stay at Wilderness Pro Lodge (I was only there for two days)! Surrounded by absolute peace and serenity. Doug was 100% available to communicate how to get to this remote location in the Alaskan bush. I stayed in a dry cabin that was very cozy and quiet. I did have access to the main lodge with has been beautifully built and curated. If Lake Clark is on your destination list, I without any hesitation would recommend staying at any of the accommodations that Doug has to offer.”

Highlights were the rides across the bay for hiking and spending time with the Ness family and their team. Would 100% stay here again!”
Guest from 2022 C.“We wanted to go somewhere remote and non-touristy in Alaska, and this dry cabin was perfect for us. The one-hour flight from Anchorage in a small plane was amazing. After landing on the gravel air strip, we were greeted by Doug, who took us across the lake in his boat and made us feel like family. The dry cabin is about 50 yards from his beautiful home on a bay on Lake Clark, so we were in remote Alaska but we felt safe. The outhouse was just a few steps from the cabin, and it's only dark for a few hours in summer, so there were no issues with that. We chose to pay extra and get meals provided, and Doug's wife Marge prepared delicious home-made meals. Doug offers a variety of outings (for a fee), and we spent a gorgeous morning kayaking on the lake. In the evenings, he fired up the homemade hot tub and we had a nice soak while enjoying the late-night sun on the lake. Like everything else in Alaska, this experience was expensive; it was also wonderfully unique, memorable, and fun.”

- Doug and crew went out of their way to keep us comfortable even though we booked the dry cabin (super cozy, warm, had everything we need) w double camp burner, utensils, towels (shower/by the sauna outside).
- The cabin is only available by boat, but we found it very manageable to plan our itinerary in advance and split time between Port Alsworth and the lodge
- We went on a half day fishing trip with Mike and it was awesome! He is a well of knowledge, stories, fun, goofy and obviously skilled and talented like Doug. We were grateful he was our go to guide about bears, animals and fish!
10/10 would come back and see what more becomes of this amazing place.
Everything was better than we expected and hope this special gem of a place can be experienced by those curious about the outdoors hosted by this wholesome family. Definitely felt like a little home away from home.”
